Banco de Portugal: Building a Culture of Continuous Learning

Banco de Portugal

Making Learning Accessible and Effective for All

With the increasing demands of the financial sector and the importance of keeping employees up-to-date and motivated, Banco de Portugal needed a learning solution that was practical, accessible, and relevant. Beyond supporting professional growth, the L&D team aimed to create an environment where every employee could learn at their own pace and according to their individual needs.

To meet this challenge, Banco de Portugal partnered with Learninghubz, implementing an innovative learning system that provides employees with tailored content available anytime. With over 10,000 microlearning resources, the platform has transformed training into a continuous, flexible experience aligned with the organization’s goals.

An Engaging and Relevant Learning Experience

“The quality of the content and the variety of topics motivate our employees to learn continuously,” says Cátia Forte, Head of Training Management.

Learninghubz offers a rich library of high-quality content where employees can learn from global experts and top MOOC providers like LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, leading business schools such as MIT, Google Academy, and others. For more structured and in-depth training, Banco de Portugal employees can access specialised courses covering everything from essential soft skills to sector-specific hard skills.

With about 80% of the content in microlearning video format, the platform enables employees to access quick, focused resources ideal for learning “in the flow of work.” Topics include essential soft skills like time management, effective communication, and leadership—vital in a dynamic environment like banking. For hard skills, the library covers critical technical areas such as data analysis, risk management, and cybersecurity, key subjects for today’s financial sector.

“Engaging content and a variety of topics are what inspire our employees to learn continuously,” emphasizes Cátia Forte.

Three Pillars of the Learning Experience at Banco de Portugal

  1. Learning in Real Time

Banco de Portugal employees no longer need to wait for in-person training sessions to develop new skills. With “just-in-time” learning, they can access content whenever needed, applying new knowledge directly to their work.
  2. Relevant and Updated Content

Learninghubz enables Banco de Portugal to offer content that is always up-to-date and aligned with the most important topics in the sector. This ensures that training is practical and applicable, generating a direct impact on productivity and employee development.
  3. Efficient Content Management and Expert Curation

Prior to Learninghubz, Banco de Portugal spent considerable time creating and searching for content to meet immediate training needs. Now, Learninghubz curates content in line with Banco de Portugal’s strategic training plan and the interests of employees. The platform’s flexibility also allows for the inclusion of internally produced content, such as banking sector regulations specific to Banco de Portugal.

A Sustainable Culture of Continuous Learning

Through Learninghubz, Banco de Portugal has transformed training into a more dynamic and easily accessible experience. Employees report feeling more motivated to learn, highlighting the quality of the content and the flexibility to progress at their own pace as key factors that make learning seamless.

“Providing this platform demonstrates Banco de Portugal’s commitment to the continuous development of its employees. This investment is reflected in both team motivation and productivity, helping us build a culture of excellence and learning,” says Cátia Forte. “When employees have the opportunity to learn more and improve, the impact on productivity is remarkable.”

This continuous learning approach is proving essential for attracting and retaining talent and for fostering internal growth. It creates an environment where every employee feels valued and supported in their development.
